More than ever, moms express feeling overwhelmed and unprepared as they navigate the most important role they’ve ever taken on.
Whether it’s planning for the postpartum period, clarifying parenting expectations, re-defining your sense of self, or needing to process perinatal trauma….
You do not need to figure it out on your own, and you do not need to suffer in silence!
Please note: at this time, I am an out of network (OON) provider for commercial health insurance companies. I have opted out of insurance so that I can provide you with the services that you need, not what the insurance company is willing to pay for. I am a provider with the Modern Health and Lyra Health networks. If you have other coverage, I will provide you with the paperwork (a “superbill”) to submit for OON reimbursement from your insurance company. In addition, my services qualify to be paid with HSA cards.
I am here for any mom who wants to feel better prepared for navigating the impact that motherhood has on one’s body, mind, and spirit. This transition to motherhood is called matrescence. We register for the baby equipment, take the baby care classes, and read all of the parenting guides. However, no one prepares women for the mental and emotional shifts that come when one’s identity becomes shaped around the role of “mom.”
The goal is to help women feel empowered as they navigate the most significant role of their lives, and I am honored to work with moms through all stages of the motherhood journey.
If women feel inadequately prepared, their partners often feel at a total loss. I am here to support couples in taking steps to preserve their relationships after the transition from partners to parents.
Having information and support are protective factors that help reduce the risk of developing a perinatal mood disorder (PMAD) during pregnancy or the postpartum time period.
You can hear more about this on topic where Jane was a guest on a podcast episode.
Trauma-focused treatments
If you are having flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive memories, or if you are feeling frozen, you may be experiencing the lingering effects of trauma.
Brainspotting is one option that can be useful for alleviating the ongoing impact of experiences that did not align with what was expected.
Pregnancy and infant loss are often referred to as “unspeakable” losses. Women who have endured this type of loss often feel isolated and alone, and comments from well-intentioned friends and family often add to the isolation.
I would be honored to help you process the trauma and grief you are experiencing. Whether the loss is related to infertility, miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth, or termination for medical reasons (TFMR), the mental and emotional impact can last long after physical healing is complete. Medical trauma is common in the field of women’s reproductive medicine, and it can be effectively treated.
In addition, I work with women who had traumatic experiences related to IVF and/or labor and delivery. These moms often feel dismissed, because they are repeatedly told that a “healthy” baby is all that matters. I want you to know that YOU matter too!
